Gold Coast Film Festival 2018

This April marks the return of the Gold Coast Film Festival, set to celebrate its 16th annual event. After another successful event of film-related events in last year’s 15th Gold Coast Film Festival, the 16th annual event is sure to be bigger and better than ever before. Filmmakers and movie fanatics mark your calendars today!

Celebrate everything to do with film at the Gold Coast Film Festival, the Gold Coast’s premier festival for filmmaking and movies in the region. The Gold Coast itself is proud to be a popular location for several huge international blockbuster movies, including Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean, Thor: Ragnarok, Aquaman, and many more. The Gold Coast Film Festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the Gold Coast’s history of filmmaking over 11 exciting days.

A huge program is in the works for the 16th Gold Coast Film Festival, including several exclusive outdoor movie showings, movie set tours, talks, quizzes, and the popular Sipfest! All of this will take place from April 17 to April 29; so make sure to be nowhere but the Gold Coast.

The 16th Gold Coast Film Festival will celebrate dance in film with two exciting outdoor movie showings in Giltrap Park, Kirra. Enjoy Strictly Ballroom on April 20 and Happy Feet on April 21 with plenty of food and refreshments to avail onsite - just bring a blanket and chair! Both movies will start at 6.30 pm. Also on April 20 take part in a sumptuous 3-hour buffet and drink package at the QT Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise with the Women in Film Lunch, which will celebrate women in film and television. On April 22 enjoy more outdoor showings on Surfers Paradise Beach, where Sipfest will be showcasing the best film shorts in Australia!

Witness something special with the Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour: a bus ride around several famous Gold Coast locations where over 20 films have been filmed; including Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, San Andreas, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more! Avail this experience on weekends April 21-22 and April 28-29.

You can also test your film knowledge at the Gold Coast Film Festival - on April 24 attend the Music and Movie Trivia at the QT Ballroom, where teams of 2-6 people can combine their movie knowledge and win big prizes!
